Meet the Governors
About the Board of Governors
The Governing Board consists of people who are members of staff, parents, representatives of the local authority and the community and who have a wide range of backgrounds and experiences. The Governing Board works as a team and accept collective responsibility for decisions made at meetings. We want to work in partnership with Mrs. Fry and all staff to ensure that the school provides high quality education for all children. It is our objective to make Pangbourne Primary School the school of choice for Pangbourne families.

I am a chartered surveyor with nearly 40 yearsà ¿ ½ experience in the development and construction industries initially as a Quantity Surveyor and later as a Project Manager, managing construction projects through the full development cycle from planning through to commissioning. As a director of various consultancy firms, I have developed a sound knowledge of business practices, including strategic planning, P&L accounting, recruitment etc.
I am now retired but am currently volunteering as Project Manager for the Goring Gap Boat Club (of which I am a member) on a new boathouse facility in Lower Basildon. I have lived in Pangbourne for over 10 years and have three grown-up children. My wife and I love travelling, and my main hobbies are golf and rowing.
Period of Office: from 4 January 2011
I am enjoying the role of Headteacher at Pangbourne Primary School and have been in post since January 2011.
After successfully completing my NPQH (National Qualification for Headteachers), I was very excited to become Headteacher at Dorchester St. Birinus C.E. Primary School in Oxfordshire before moving to Pangbourne Primary School. I was also a teacher for 13 years in West Berkshire and this included working as numeracy consultant for schools across the county.
During my time as a teacher, I taught all year groups from Foundation Stage to Year 6. In May 2000, I was invited to a reception at Buckingham Palace by the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh to recognise my achievement in schools. For 3 years in the middle of my teaching career, I moved to Alabama in the USA and was a finance officer for a corporation and executive director of a school.
In my spare time, I love to paint very large pictures of racing cars.

I have lived in Pangbourne for many years and one of my children attends Pangbourne Primary School. I have extensive experience working in the field of HR for large organisations and the skills and knowledge I have gained are ideal for the challenges of being a governor.
I believe the governing board can help ensure that all children attending the school have an enjoyable and rewarding primary education.

Period of Office: 25 September 2017 to 24 September 2021
I have lived in Pangbourne since I was born and still live in the village today. I could not ignore the opportunity to become a governor at my former primary school!
Before being appointed to this governing board, I was a governor at a primary school in Woodley for 4 years. I was part of their finance committee as well as being their ICT link governor. I have been fortunate to be able to continue both roles at Pangbourne Primary.
I have worked in the education sector for 10 years providing IT support across state and private schools, colleges and universities. I currently work for a company who provide IT Services to schools across the South of England. As part of my role, I provide IT support to primary schools in the Reading area.
Aside from my governor role, I am currently part of the Patient Participation Group at The Boathouse Surgery. I happily give up my free time to help others in the Pangbourne community, the surrounding areas and nationally.
My hobbies are usually based around computers but I also love to travel to new countries, and I am an avid fan of Formula 1 (live and on TV).
David FaganCo-opted Governor
Period of Office: 17 June 2019 to 16 June 2023
I am a community governor and chair of the premises and health & safety link group. In addition, I am a member of the finance & management committee. I joined the governing board of Pangbourne Infants School in 1989, which was then in need of a governor with knowledge of financial management, of which I had professional experience. Having found the task of being a school governor irresistible, I have continued ever since, through the amalgamation of the Infants and Junior Schools in the early nineties and having been chair of the governing board for some years.
My two daughters, now in their thirties, were educated at the school. I regret to admit that I am not exactly young!

I am a parent governor, with two children currently at the school. I work in the commercial division of a big international food company whose UK head office is in Reading and have lots of experience building plans based on data as well as managing people, projects and budgets. I have a particular passion for children's well-being, including their physical and mental health, and am excited to get involved wherever I can in helping this excellent school thrive. I am also the nominated SEND governor.
